About
I’m Jenny Powell Grosvenor, and I help people with chronic health conditions build healthier habits so they can help themselves to feel their best.
I never would have imagined that a routine stop at a blood drive would start me on a life changing journey to learning how to live with a rare and incurable cancer. But there I was, in my late 20s, when…BAM! The C word.
I had struggled with my health most of my life, and knew I had been feeling worse than usual for a while, but I sure didn’t expect that.
I was told that if I was going to get cancer, I was “lucky” to get this one because of the overall good prognosis. At the time, I wasn’t seeing it the same way as that oncologist. He was not considering my quality of life. My life had drastically changed. I had gone from being called the “Energizer® Bunny™” to not wanting to get off the couch. I felt awful, my symptoms were invalidated and written off, and I was told there was nothing they could do for them. The medication that would keep me alive made me feel worse than the cancer itself. It was the only option at the time and I was told I would have to take it the rest of my life. The future looked bleak. I felt a lot of things—alone, confused, angry, frustrated, scared, anxious, depressed, isolated, fatigued and in pain—but certainly not “lucky.”
I am a lot of things, and while one of them is sick, another one is determined. I didn’t want to feel that way the rest of my life! While I knew there were some things I would have to learn to accept (and that sure took a while!), I was going to do everything in my power to feel the best I could. I am happy to say that more than a decade later, I feel leaps and bounds better (most of the time).
As I worked to help myself to feel better, I also trained extensively to help others learn how to do the same. Over the past 6 years I have coached hundreds of people to create healthier habits, redefine their idea of wellness and live their best life with chronic illness.
That’s my story, in a nutshell. What’s yours?
